Distorted NCI Test Summaries
The National Cancer Institute (NCI) has made a
web page to summarize its testing of Cancell. On this web page,
NCI made an amazingly deceptive statement about the cancer cell kill
rate of Cancell and never mentions the tumor weight reductions.
Tumor weight data takes up 8 of the 14 columns on the NCI test data
sheets. Why didn't they mention tumor weight loss?
The text below presents and responds to the
distorted NCI summary statements regarding cancer cell kill rate and
tumor weight reductions produced by
Cancell.
Cell Kill Rate Statement by NCI
You can find the following amazingly deceptive
statement in the "Laboratory/Animal/Preclinical
Studies" section of the new
NCI
Cancell/Entelev page:
"Based on these results and calculations of
the maximum amount of Cancell/Entelev that would be available in
the bloodstream of a patient after taking the recommended dose of
a marketed brand, Cancell/Entelev may exhibit some inhibitory
effect on the growth of some cancer cells, but it would not be
expected to inhibit their growth completely or to kill them. It
should also be noted that Cancell/Entelev was completely devoid of
cancer cell killing activity in 37% of the cell lines tested-even
at the highest concentration, which is roughly 275 times higher
than the theoretical concentration that can be achieved in the
blood of Cancell/Entelev consumers."
There are a number of very good reasons why
Cancell did not appear to kill cancer cells during this test. They
are explained the the following paragraphs.
Cancer Cells Under Cancell Must First Digest Themselves Before Dying
Cancell does not directly kill cancer cells; it
causes cancer cells to digest themselves (to lyse). While the cancer
cells are digesting themselves, they are still alive. They must be
alive or they could not continue to digest themselves. The NCI test
is run for a short period of time designed for fast acting
chemo-like drugs. If the test was run for a slow acting cancer
treatment like Cancell, by the end of the test, all the cells that
had been digesting themselves would be dead. As it was, the tumor
cells had dramatically reduced their weight by slowly digesting
themselves, but they were mostly still alive at the end of the test.
Concentration Is Not An Issue
It is the goal of Cancell to move the
respiration process of cancer cells down past a certain point on the
oxidation reduction ladder as explained by
James Sheridan.
Once this point is crossed, a cancer cell will start to digest
itself. It does not matter how much further you try and push by
increasing the concentration of Cancell, the rate of digestion does
not increase. Also, the number of cells that undergo the desired
reduction does not increase with an increase in Cancell
concentration.
Weight Loss Ignored?
It is unbelievable that the people testing
Cancell did not question their low cancer cell kill ratios in light
of the fact that tumor weight was being drastically reduced in
every one of the 60 test tumors (see Table 2, three screens
below). How could the test evaluators ignore such dramatic tumor
weight reduction? Tumor weight data takes up most of the space on
the NCI data sheets, eight of the 14 columns are used to measure
tumor weight loss.
Pharmacology Not Interesting?
When a new cancer treatment comes out, I would
imagine that every doctor's first question is "How does it work?"
The method of Cancell's operation was never held secret. How could
the testers be so uninterested in the pharmacology of Cancell that
they did not know that Cancell causes tumor cells to digest
themselves? How could they not know such a basic aspect of the
treatment they were testing?
NCI Tumor Weight Reductions Test Data
The data in Table 2 below was taken from three
sets of test results developed by the National Cancer Institute
(NCI). In these tests:
-
NCI measures anti-cancer activity by
percentage growth and the number of cells killed. Negative
percentage growth is encouraging. Killing cellsis also
encouraging, but the test was not run long enough for Cancell to
cause the cancer cells to completely digest themselves (lyse) and
actuallyregister as being killed.
-
NCI uses five different
concentrations of the compound under test for each tumor type.
-
For simplicity, Table 2 shows the best
percentage growth result from the five concentrations. This puts
toxic compounds like Chemo in a much better light than they
deserve because some concentrations would be too strong to
withstand while Cancell is non-toxic.

Downloadable Test Results in PDF.
Table 2 Notes
NT = not tested. The tumor types used for
testing changed from time to time. Since the compounds in Table 2
were tested during different years some tumor types tested with one
compound were not tested with another compound.
The last three columns contain the tumor mass
change percentage for the compounds under test.
Compounds under test - Perillyl alcohol - know
to be inactive against tumors, Toxal - the "gold standard" chemo,
Cancell - the champion of the tests.
Mass change percentage - the percentage change
in weight obtained when comparing the tumor weight before and after
the test period.
Test period - the time during which the tumors
were exposed to the compound under test.
Colors
Red - mass reduction
greater than 95%
Blue -
mass reduction greater than 80%
The colored entries are also in italics if you print
this page on a black and while printer.
Just scan each of the last three columns
looking for blue and red -- color in a column shows a strong
anti-cancer result.

Perillyl and Taxol were tested on two other
cancer panels that Cancell was not tested against so these panels
were not included in the table.
Below the exampletest sheet and its
explanation, are links to high and low resolution graphicsof the
test sheets for:
-
Perilly alcohol, 641066-T/2,which was judged
inactive by NCI
-
Taxol, 125973-L/19,a popular chemotherapeutic
agentNCI judged to be active
-
Cancell, 637907-L/1
Example Test Sheet Click this example sheet to see the full sheet. Use your back button to continue reading the explanation of the columns.
There are 14 columns on the NCI test sheets.
From left to right:
Column 1 lists the tumor type tested.
Columns 4 to 7 define the concentrations of
the compound under test. This helps determine correct dosage for
follow-on testing.
Columns 8 to 11 contain the actual results
expressed in percentage growth of the tumors. A reduction in mass
is indicated by a negative number and indicates anti-cancer
activity. There are four numbers for each tumor type meaning that
four tumors of that type were tested at four different
concentrations.
Columns 11 to 14 contain the actual results
expressed in number of cells killed. The NCI summary of this
parameter and my rebuttal can be found above in the "Cell
Kill Rate Statement by NCI" section.

Printing Instructions for Low or High Resolution
-
After the page appears that contains the
datasheet, right click the image. A menu drops down.
-
Select Save Image As. A dialog box appears
for selecting the directory on your hard drive to store the
graphic file.
-
Select a directory you will remember and
click Save or OK. The graphic file is saved to your hard disk.
-
Use Windows Explorer or some other file
manager to click on the graphic file. If it opens in a browser
window, try printing it. If it opens in a graphics program you can
resize it before you print it. Try using 8 X 10.6 inches.
A graphic program may be needed to print your
graphic file. You can get an evaluation copy of PaintShop from
numerous web sites.
High Resolution
These links are very high resolution so you can
only view a small portion of the datasheet at a time.

If you can't print the above .gif files you can
contact NCI at:
NCI, Executive Plaza North
Drug Synthetics & Chemistry, rm 831
Bethesda, Maryland 20892-7448
When contacting NCI you should request the
in-vitro test results for 637907-L/1 tested in Nov of 1990 and any
tests results of an active compound and an inactive compound for
comparison. Also ask them to include the common names for the
compounds whose results you receive. If you give them a fax number
they will fax them to you. Each set of test results is about seven
pages long and includes the all important Data Review Checklist
which contains their decision to proceed with or abandon further
investigation. Recently, people requesting Cancell test data have
been given a run around. Apparently, NCI is trying to cover their
tracks.
