The Fateful "Swallowing Test" Bonnie had so much trouble swallowing, despite the prediction by the radiation doctor that this problem would disappear that she became very discouraged about it. The doctors, too, felt that this swallowing difficult could NOT be explained by the chemo or radiation effects. Bonnie was actually put in the hospital for two days while many tests were run -- trying to find the cause of the swallowing problem. They gave up -- sent her home without any explanation. Just at that time, with this discouragement, Bonnie went to see the surgeon who was Bonnie's last hope -- that he would agree to "cut the stuff out!" That meeting with the surgeon is what dashed Bonnie's hope, and led her to ask to be accepted into the Hospice Program. The Hospice, of course, was a blessing in disguise -- because Bonnie gave up any hope for conventional treatment helping her. We had never ceased using the alternative treatments described here. We now felt FREE to pursue alternative therapy without any feeling that we should "go back" to get more chemo and radiation. But the swallowing problem did NOT improve. So, as she was feeling better, otherwise, we left the Hospice Program in order to get back into the regular insurance system where further tests and treatment could be done. These would NOT be treatments to cure the cancer, but "palliative treatments" to reduce the discomfort that was apparently NOT caused by the cancer, but WAS apparently caused by the chemo and radiation. So, the first service was described to us by the primary care physician as the "swallowing test." That test was conducted on Friday, July 16, 2004, at 9 AM. The results were and are amazing!
